Jessica and David

The Wedding Of
David Peter Darnes
&
Jessica Amy Gurr

We’re getting married! There’s not long to go until the big day and we can’t wait to celebrate with you. Here, you’ll find more information on local accommodation, directions to the church and the reception venue, Kingscote Barn, as well as some info about the day itself.

Ceremony

The wedding ceremony will take place at 12:30pm at St Mary’s Church in Yate. We’re not worried about which side you sit on, but if you like tradition, the Groom’s family typically sit on the right and the Bride’s on the left. The lovely Ushers will show you where to go. There’ll be lyrics provided for all of the hymns - don’t worry, you won’t have to know the words, but it’d be ace if you’d like to join in. Feel free to take your order of service home with you! Please, no photos during the service! You’ll be more than welcome to take some on our exit and outside the church.

Wedding Breakfast

After the ceremony and some photos, we’ll be headed to the reception venue, Kingscote Barn, near Tetbury. Guests are invited to arrive from 2:30pm and directions are listed below. Nestled in a beautiful valley on the edge of the Cotswolds, it’s a stunning location surrounded by a working farm (accompanied by the odd chorus of ‘baaaaaahs’ on the hills opposite) - no need for wellies, though, and there’s plenty of parking available on site.

To start, you’ll be greeted with some refreshing drinks and nibbles, and an opportunity to mingle and take in the views. You’ll probably find yourself being directed by the photographer or our lovely wedding host to “stand here” or “move there” and “smile!” at some point. The wedding breakfast will start at approximately 4:30pm - as well as the usual tipple throughout the meal, there is also a cash bar available for any other drinks you might fancy.

Evening Reception

After all the speeches and toasts comes the evening party! Evening guests will be arriving from 7:30pm onwards, ready to watch the cake cutting (and eat some cake!) and our first dance. Please come and join us - there’ll be some banging tunes, as well as some softer, more romantic ones, curated by the fab DJ. We love pizza and figured most people do, as well, so we’ll be feasting on stone-baked pizza made right on the premises in front of you later on in the evening.

Accommodation

Some of you might be local, some may be travelling a fair old jaunt - whichever category you fall into, we’re super grateful that you’re able to share in our special day. For those that have come from far and wide, we’ve found some lovely places to stay close to the venue to suit a selection of budgets. Whilst the wedding is on a weekday, there is a chance that places might get booked up, so please do make a reservation a.s.a.p. If you’d like to.

Directions

Map

Need some help finding us? We’ve written up some directions to both the church and the venue from Bristol, the M5 and M4. There are also addresses (postcodes for sat navs!) below, as well.

Gift List

If you’re thinking of buying us a gift, then firstly, we’d like to offer a heartfelt thank you for your generosity. We’ve created a gift list with some gift ideas that we’ve chosen at a range of prices. We’ve also included a few “big ticket” items and if you would like to, we would be most grateful for a gift voucher towards one of these. The list number is 704781 and is open from Thursday 24th May until two weeks after the big day - John Lewis Gift List
